Dispatch- Introducing Month View

The Dispatch Month View is an enhancement to Dispatch 2.0 that allows you to plan and manage work orders across multiple weeks in a single interface.

If you’re coordinating internal technicians, schedules, and locations, this feature gives you broader visibility and more flexible scheduling compared to the traditional week view.

Accessing the Month View

  1. Navigate to Dispatch (2.0)

  2. Locate the view toggle

  3. Switch from Week View (default) to Month View

The week view remains unchanged, but the month view expands your planning horizon.

Key Capabilities

Multi-Week Planning

  • View and manage multiple weeks at once

  • Easily move work across weeks without switching screens

This is the core value: fewer clicks, more context.

Open Work Orders Panel

  • Still available in month view

  • Displays all unassigned or open work orders

Assigning Work Orders

  1. Drag a work order from the panel

  2. Drop it onto a specific date

After dropping:

  • A Technician Selection dropdown appears

  • Only technicians scheduled for that location and date are shown

Selecting a technician will:

  • Assign the work order

  • Update the ETA

  • Update the assigned technician

Rescheduling Work Orders

You can adjust schedules directly within the calendar:

  • Drag a work order to a different day or week

  • Reassign to a different technician if needed

Changes are immediately reflected in:

  • Scheduled date

  • Assigned technician

  • ETA

Unassigning Work Orders

If a work order needs to be removed from the schedule:

  1. Drag it back to the Unassigned/Open Work Orders panel

  2. It becomes available again for reassignment

View Toggles

The month view includes two distinct perspectives:

1. Work Orders View

  • Displays scheduled work orders across the calendar

  • Best for task-level planning and adjustments

2. Technician Schedule View

  • Displays technician schedules instead of work orders

  • Shows availability and assignments at a resource level

Additional Behavior

  • If more than two schedules exist for a day:

    • A “See More” option appears

  • You can still:

    • Drag and drop work orders for assignment

Important:

  • Work orders themselves are not visible in this view

  • You’ll need to toggle back to Work Orders View to confirm placement

Navigation

  • Move between months using standard navigation controls

  • Maintain visibility across extended scheduling windows

Data Refresh

  • Built-in refresh logic keeps data reasonably current

  • Manual refresh may be required to immediately reflect recent changes

Summary

The Dispatch Month View enables you to:

  • Plan across multiple weeks in one interface

  • Assign, reschedule, and unassign work orders.

  • Align work orders with technician availability

Used properly, it reduces scheduling friction and improves visibility.
Used poorly, it just spreads mistakes across a bigger calendar.
