Dashboard - Introducing Self Dashboard and Custom Widgets

The latest updates to Managed Dashboards introduce two major capabilities: Self Dashboards, personal dashboards for individual users, and Custom Widgets, configurable widgets tailored to your workflow.

These changes shift dashboards from a static reporting tool into a more flexible, user-driven workspace.

1. Self Dashboards

What’s New

In addition to creating dashboards for teams (via job titles), users can now create private dashboards for their own use.

These dashboards:

  • Are only visible to the creator

  • Do not appear to other users

  • Allow individuals to manage their own workload independently

How to Create a Self Dashboard

  1. Go to the Dashboard

  2. Click Add Dashboard

  3. In the dropdown, select:

    • Self (for personal dashboards)

    • Job Titles (for team dashboards, existing functionality)

  4. Configure and save

Default behavior:

  • The system defaults to Job Titles, since most dashboards are team-based

Permissions for Self Dashboards

Access is controlled via roles.

How to Enable

  1. Navigate to User Management

  2. Select Job Titles

  3. Go to Roles

  4. Enable:

    • Self Dashboards, View and Edit

Permission Behavior

  • Users with Self permission only:

    • Can create and edit their own dashboards only

    • Cannot manage team dashboards

  • Dashboard Admins:

    • Can manage both:

      • Personal dashboards

      • Job title (team) dashboards

When to Use Self Dashboards

Use them when:

  • You need a personal operational view

  • Your workflow differs from your team’s

  • You want to track individual KPIs or tasks

If you’re building something meant for shared visibility, use job title dashboards instead.

2. Custom Widgets

What’s New

A new Custom Widget option is now available in the widget library, allowing you to build widgets tailored to your needs.

There are three widget types:

  • Table

  • Count

  • Note

A. Table Widget

Functionality

  • Displays filtered work order data in a table format

  • Uses advanced filters (similar to list view)

  • Supports column customization and ordering

Key Capabilities

  • Drag-and-drop column arrangement

  • Columns mirror those in the Work Orders List View

  • Custom widget naming

  • Conditional color indicators

Example Use Case

  • Track high-priority work orders

  • Monitor overdue tasks with visual alerts

B. Count Widget

Functionality

  • Displays a numeric count of work orders matching defined filters

Key Differences from the Table

  • No column configuration

  • Focuses purely on aggregated data

Additional Features

  • Optional color indicators for thresholds

    • Example:

      • Green if < 4 items

      • Red if > 5 items

Example Use Case

  • Open work orders count

  • Pending approvals volume

C. Note Widget

Functionality

  • Allows you to add text-based notes directly to the dashboard

Features

  • Custom title

  • Freeform text entry

  • Hyperlink support

Example Use Case

  • Team instructions

  • Links to external tools or documentation

  • Daily operational reminders

Widget Behavior and Refresh

  • Widgets include built-in refresh logic

  • Manual refresh is also available to update data in real time

Current Scope Limitation

  • Custom widgets currently support Work Orders module only

  • Expect expansion, but don’t assume cross-module capability yet
