This enhancement will help users pause or delay work when needed, without canceling or closing the task and gives you more control over your work order workflow while ensuring proper notifications and scheduling.
Key Benefits
Flexibility: You can easily postpone work orders without marking them as completed or canceled.
Better Scheduling: Work orders in "Deferred" status won’t show as overdue, helping you manage tasks better.
Clear Notifications: Users are notified when work orders are deferred, so everyone stays informed.
Keeps Workflow Intact: Work orders remain part of the workflow, so nothing gets lost or forgotten.
How It Works
Deferring Work Orders: You can move a work order to "Deferred" as long as it’s not Completed or Canceled. This pauses the task until you're ready to continue.
Assigning the "Defer Work Order" Role: To use the new status, you’ll need to assign the Defer Work Order role to specific users. Here’s how:
Accessing the Defer Action: After assigning the role, users will see the option to "Defer" on all work orders, except those already marked as Completed or Canceled.
Reassigning Deferred Work Orders: Users with the Defer Work Order role can also reassign deferred tasks to others to ensure work gets done later.
Defer Option When Creating Service Requests: When creating a new service request, you now have the ability to select the "Deferred" status right away. This allows you to delay a task from the moment it's requested, giving you flexibility to manage work more efficiently.
The new Deferred status lets you pause work orders without disrupting your workflow. With better control over when tasks are completed, the ability to manage notifications and reassignments, and now the option to defer service requests right from creation, this feature helps keep everything on track even when work needs to be delayed.
